Keeping it in the family

A Letter From Isabel

Last week the Connolly team went down to photograph a few key pieces of motoring-wear at the Connolly Leather warehouse in Kent that houses all the beautiful Connolly Leather automotive hides and a couple of glamorous family motors too.

Keeping it in the family

It was all done in house: the model is Owen- Connolly design and development manager, the stylist Scarlett our E-Commerce manager, and the photographer Chloe our graphic designer... the results are fantastic and make me so proud of what they can do with talent and no budget. And also made me hopeful that whatever we get thrown at us from viruses, governments and scientists, there is a future generation moving into the driving seat with exactly the right attitude and style.

The Great Escape
SS1 Via Aurelia

163 miles of sheer beauty from La Spezia to Bordighera two days drive to be enjoyed properly... built in 241 BC by Gaius Aurelius Cotta making it the oldest road in Italy. One of the most storied routes, it crosses the Italian Riviera, the cinque terra national park and offers spectacular views of the Ligurian Sea, blue in the summer and pale jade in the winter and connects Rome with France.Visit  Portofino with the best Bellinis in the world at Ugos bar, and take in the elegance  of Santa Margharita, have a Slim Aarons style lunch at Hotel Il Pellicano in the Argentario or eat spaghetti Vongole at one of Italy's best seafood restaurants in Marina di Bibboni, La Pineta. And don’t miss Noli one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy.  Names like Savona, Imperia resound with history and where the most beautiful classic yacht regatta is held.., Bordighera where you will be surprised by the forties and fifties architecture of Gio Ponti. Finishing in Monaco at the Cafe de Paris.

The new sleek City Mac made in Scotland with vulcanised cotton, taped seams and natural horn buttons; the collar is finished with Connolly leather that has been specially researched and developed to be water repellant. The new Connolly Driver Jean (available late October) is made from Japanese selvedge denim and the waist features a traditional button fasten and an extra button for easing into the driving seat after a good lunch. The hand-stitched driving glove known as the Road Rage Glove, with its two finger salute. The Driving Boot and the Seabag weekend case that fits into a cabin at the back of a race car or a plane. And the new Rally Blanket with its nod to the racing chequered flag is made in Scotland from the softest wool and cashmere. The car is a Lancia Aurelia and is not for sale... Named after the Roman road that leads from Rome to Monaco along the Italian Riviera.
