Eduardo Paolozzi was born in Edinburgh in 1924 to Italian parents who had emigrated from Viticuso, Lazio. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art, at the Ruskin Drawing School, and at the Slade School of Art, and lived mostly in Germany and the UK. He is one of the founders of British Pop Art and one of the UK’s most celebrated and influential artists.
Since his death in 2005 he has continued to have a long-lasting legacy and impact on future generations of artists, both in the UK and internationally. His work is varied and experimental: moving from kaleidoscopic print-making, to avant-garde films, to monumental sculpture and refined collages. His work is included in important private and public collections, including the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice),Tate (London), MoMA (New York), and the National Galleries of Scotland (Edinburgh),
the British Council Collection (London).
“Eduardo Paolozzi was an artist far ahead of his time. His daring and revolutionary approach to printmaking and sculpture, prefaced by his iconic collages, continue to reveal his genius today.”
“In my 20’s I used to swim every morning with EP at the Chelsea baths, this power force of talent, was a giant presence in the pool! I am so proud to show this print collection from the Alma Zevi gallery inVenice and love how its beauty and strength work in our Connolly living room.”
